Here's to the gov't

I was hired as Census worker to help with the 2010 census. It has proven to be very interesting work, with lots of rules and craziness.

Now here's how it goes..... they sent something in the mail last year to fill out. IF you didn't get one, or were just too lazy [or stubborn] to fill one out...... they send someone this year to your house to ask you the questions. It is law that you answer at least the question of how many people were living at your residence on April 1 2010.... the rest, well, you can refuse to state. THEN someone may [or may not] come to your door - this is me- to check to make sure that the person who previously came to your door.. came to your door and spoke with you. I then ask you a bunch more questions to verify that the previous person did their job. THEN you may or may not have someone call or visit [again ] to make sure I did my job. And who knows if that is the last time you will be bugged. - uh, I mean contacted.

The process seems a little redundant to me, but the checks and balances are there to make sure people don't sit at Starbucks and fill to the questionnaires with wrong information. And yes, some people have done this... and that's why I am here doing what I do.. clean up! I guess a few of them wanted to be promoted and such so they thought if their numbers were high, they'd be more likely be promoted. Anyhow, either which way you look at it the Census is to count everyone and helps divide political voting, house of representatives etc.

Here's to our great nation - hopefully we will stand as One Nation Under GOD.
