So our dust bowl to back [as I fondly call it] is now turning itself into a useful patch of grass. Okay, so it didn't do it all by itself.. lots of man hours and hard work.. the ground was as hard as rock and my hubby and missionaries took to it - making it weed free! It took all day long! then we added organic mulch, compost and fertilizer..... then our seeds... and watered faithfully 2X a day. It hasn't been blazing hot, so thank goodness for that! So... watching and watering everyday gets you very anxious for a lush patch of comforting grass beneath your feet. [and I really would like to sun bathe ! ]
The expression, 'it's like watching grass grow' ..... yeah, BORING!! and most days, just down right frustrating! I know [ logically, intellectually] that the grass wont just pop up over night and be a full lawn. That is, unless you plant sod. But when you spend that much time caring for it, you wish it would JUST GROW ALREADY!!!
Cameron and I were talking about it'll probably not show one day and then the next, BING! be there. Well, shoots of grass that is, not a full lawn.. That was Friday night.. Saturday morning.. BING!!! THERE IT WAS!! I couldn't believe it! I was so happy! OK - I was elated!!! I showed everyone who came over- and yes, almost showed the UPS MAN- our GRASS!! It wasn't very noticeable, but it was green fuzz all across the dirt... Now we have blades that are at least an inch tall and more of them. I am probably going out of my mind with excitement by now, as I would LOVE to have friends over this summer to entertain. Lets just hope it continues to grow like it should [and I need to water and take care of it like I should] and we will have a lush green patch for the kids to play on, me to sun bathe on, and picnics to hang out on.
Here's to the beginning of a great summer!
