Rainy Day Fun

We normally don't get rain during October, but sure enough.. the rain is ah-fallin'! Since I've been obsessed with blogs of crafty and talented women my mind has been in over-drive. The creativity just wont stop.. I even wake up in the middle of the night to sketch something in my book so I don't forget. So we trekked out today [yes, in the rain with a 2 year old and 3 week old..] to DI. DI? whats that? It's a thrift store for our church. the proper name for it is Deseret Industries but you know how everything must have an acronym.. so DI is what ya get.

Anyhow, I drug my mom with us today to help wrangle Xander and off we went.

I hadn't been there for a few years and was really hoping to locate what I call a "great find". And BOY DID I EVER! Here is the cart full of goodies:

I also found a cedar chest with a cushion on top for 35 smakaroos! What a "great find" !!! I'll be refinishing it, adding a few details.... not sure if i want to paint it or not.. and reupholstering the seat. It will be handy for storage and a seat for our outside dinning room.

When we got home Xander and I took pictures of everything then set out our painting supplies and worked on a few projects. I've been working on a painting for a few months now and just want it done, so I pulled it out and worked on it.. and also messed part of it up, so I hope I can fix it. After setting that aside I started on 2 new projects. Since they are painted [and it takes awhile to dry] I work on one while the other is drying then move onto the other one. I think tomorrow I might start a few more projects.

My goal is to [have a very messy house] and complete all my projects that I bought before October is over. Ok, so its not a goal of mine to have a messy house, but somethings do go by the wayside when I'm in a crazy creative mode. We have a lot to do in a short amount of time, and I'd love to have most things finished before 14 November [which is the open house to celebrate the birth of Sebastian].

So as you can see, I'm a bit nuts. But in my defense... I'm kinda stuck at home for a bit and cleaning all day long isn't gonna cut it! Plus things need to be organized, thrown out or given away instead of put away for later. We also live in a small apartment and have to be very very creative with storage. If it doesn't do double duty then it may not stay in the home. We have 2 kids, 2 cats, a fish, 2 home based businesses and another one in the works, craft-sewing-painting and art supplies... So as you can see, there is a lot to organize. And anyone who knows me well knows that I am forever organizing. I think i thrive on a little chaos.
