grandmother

While going through my cook books and rearranging my kitchen/laundry room/dinning room {to make it less cluttered looking and more cohesive} I found a few hand-written ''cookbooks'' that my grandmother had given me before she passed. Reminiscing as I flipped from page to page made me miss her. The recipes varied from clipping from newspapers, magazines and her handwriting. Most of them were recipes for various jello molds [that was a fine time in our culinary history] and scrumptious dinners. I remember calling her for directions on how to cook thresher shark for a date I was having while I lived in LA. She was always so helpful, encouraging and my food [mostly] turned out fabulous. I can still see myself one the phone with her while in my teeny tiny [understatement] ''kitchen'' panicking that my dinner was surely going to be ruined. All the while listening to her voice on the other end coaching me through the preparation of this ever-important meal. After all, I HAD to impress this guy because I was head-over-heels for him. Come to find out, he thought of me as his little sister. ha. I am ever indebted to my grandmother for the plethora [too many to count] of culinary experiences.
I am looking forward to making several of the recipes in the cookbooks - who knows, I might even make a jello mold in her honor!
